"Is It a Good Idea to Microwave Tin Foil?" is the second episode of Is It a Good Idea to Microwave This?. See what happens when Jory decides to put two pieces of tin foil inside the microwave.

Jory explains the plan: put two pieces of crumpled tin foil in the microwave turn it on, and it will probably arc back and forth. With that, the episode begins. After the title sequence, Jory briefly reviews the safety features, and expresses concern for vaporizing his nads. Jon notes to Jory that they should clean out the microwave (drawing attention to the broken glass from the last experiment, and once that is done, the experiment begins. Jory's prediction comes true, with lots of sporadic zapping. The experiment ends, and a decision is made to let the room vent out, to avoid any possible (though unlikely) hazardous gases.

  • The powerful effects of tin foil in a microwave are utilized later on for "experiment enhancement", such as in both Spray Paint episodes and the Gasoline episode, among other episodes.
  • Jory doesn't actually declare this a "bad idea." There is no official verdict.

  • Jory: "Don't try this at home. Try it in a dorm room."

  • Jory: [referring to the remote arm and the tin foil light show before him] "It's times like these that I'm really glad I'm holding onto a plastic wiffle ball bat."
